World Health Day 2022

Our Planet, Our Health

April 7, 2022 / educational / recommended

This year’s World Health Day seems to fall in a particularly challenging period for the World and all its Citizens. From the ongoing Pandemic, to the climate change crisis and a war in Europe that threatens to engulf the World…. things seem a little bleak.   If those of us in the developed world feel we are facing personal and systemic healthcare challenges and obstacles, imagine what the other 80% of the world is coping with. Nevertheless, as we know that everything starts and ends with health, let’s see if we can help move the collective health of mankind up one notch.

– Are we able to reimagine a world where clean air, water and food are available to all?
– Where economies are focused on health and well-being?
– Where cities are livable and people have control over their health and the health of the planet?

World Health Day has many wide-reaching aims and priorities. According to the World Health Organization, they include:

– To improve understanding of the importance of primary health care.
– To spur action from individuals, policy-makers and healthcare workers to make primary health care a reality for everyone.
– Everyone should have the information and services they need to take care of their own health and the health of their families.
– Skilled health workers providing quality, people-centered care; and policy-makers committed to investing in primary health care.

That’s the global perspective. For more details on an individual level, here’s a lighter throwback to our World Health Day video with Sugar Sammy!
