Dr. Oommen and Dr. Di Liello are back with more of your coronavirus questions! Today, they will address whether or not current asthma treatments can also be used as treatment for COVID-19 patients and if Vitamin D can actually aid in the prevention of the infectious disease. The Doctors also give tips and share their personal experience on ways to keep active at home as well as getting the most out of your sleep.
Exercise and sleep are two major key components to the 6 Pillars of Health along with diet, stress management, social life, and sometimes medications, and as they’ve mentioned in previous videos are both essential to maintaining a strong immune system.
Thank you for watching everyone!

In today’s segment, Dr. Oommen and Dr. Di Liello address more of your coronavirus concerns such as possible contamination through our pets and whether or not we should allow our older parents to socialize with their friends who have been self-isolating as well. The Doctors also run through some good habits to adopt during a pandemic such as glove removal and sanitization, and breathing techniques to help control the stress in our day to day lives.
Deep breathing and meditation is highly beneficial when practiced on a regular basis, not only for when we are stressed. As Dr. Oommen points out, for the first time in many of our lives, we have plenty of time to create positive habits! Thank you for watching everyone!

At Cardiogenix, we have always said that in order to live a long and healthy life, not only must we sleep well, eat well and exercise, but as social beings people need to maintain a healthy social life as well. With the recent COVID-19 outbreak, measures such as self-isolation have inhibited many of our ability to fulfill our social needs and can cause us to feel more stressed than usual. Today, the Doctor’s delve into your questions regarding anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress and other mood disorders that are heightened due to the pandemic and their effect on our body and immune system.
If you are feeling any of these emotions during your self-isolation journey, rest assured that you are not the only one. It is normal to not feel okay during a pandemic and it is important for your health to talk about it with your loved ones or a health professional if needed.
Thank you all for your very incredible input! We encourage you to send us more questions at info@cardiogenix.ca, but most importantly, if you believe that you are showing symptoms or may have come in contact with someone with COVID-19, please call the info-coronavirus line at 1-877-644-4545.

It’s World Health Day today, and this year, the World Health Organization is shining a special light on all of the nurses and midwives around the globe. Representing over 50% of all healthcare workers worldwide, nurses and midwives are currently on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. These courageous, hardworking and selfless individuals aid not only in the treatment but also in the education and prevention of illness and disease. Thank you to all of the nurses and midwives who continue to care for each and every one of us.
In honor of World Health Day, Dr. Oommen and Dr. Di Liello highlight some of the positive medical advances that have been made in the past few weeks! We believe that it is important to remember the positive in times when we tend to feel overwhelmed with the uncertainty in the news. The Doctors also discuss Dr. Di Liello’s first-hand experience with getting tested for the coronavirus and address Premier François Legault’s most recent announcement about the reprioritization of COVID-19 testing.
Once again, we would like to thank not only our nurses and midwives, but ALL other essential workers getting us through this pandemic one day at a time.

This evening, Dr. Oommen and Dr. Di Liello discuss more of your COVID-19 questions, particularly on how people will be tested for immunity to the novel coronavirus and how to know if we have already gotten it. As people are now aware of what to look for in the virus, many have come forward reporting that they had experienced COVID-19-like symptoms a few weeks before it was a hot topic and suspect that they could have been affected. We must also keep in mind that a large number of those infected may show no symptoms at all, hence the importance of social distancing.
As testing continues, the number of cases will continue to rise, and eventually as time goes on, this will begin to slow down. For the time being, we would like to thank everyone that has been practicing self-isolation for the past few weeks. It may not always be easy, but remember, together we will get through this!
We encourage you to send us more questions at info@cardiogenix.ca, but most importantly, if you believe that you are showing symptoms or may have come in contact with someone with COVID-19, please call the info-coronavirus line at 1-877-644-4545.

In today’s segment, the Doctors answer your questions on how to maintain our health during self-isolation. Many of you asked for the quickest ways to boost your immune system to best prevent severe infection, what to do if we urgently need to see a dentist, if it is poor judgement to practice intermittent fasting during the pandemic, and more.
Whether or not you are part of an at-risk group such as the elderly, the immunocompromised, or someone with an underlying health condition, it is important to get around 6 to 7 hours of sleep and to continue to keep up with cardiovascular exercises. If you were not already exercising or sleeping properly, it’s not too late! In fact, now is the best time to create new healthy eating, sleeping, and exercise habits!
Thank you all again for tuning into these segments. We encourage you to send us more questions at info@cardiogenix.ca, but most importantly, if you believe that you are showing symptoms or may have come in contact with someone with COVID-19, please call the info-coronavirus line at 1-877-644-4545.

Dr. Oommen and Dr. Di Liello are here to address your incoming questions about the historical situation that we are currently living in; the COVID-19 pandemic. Today’s video raises many important points including the risk factors of cardiovascular diseases, ACE inhibitors, the reality and impact of non-medical professionals using face masks throughout their day-to-day lives, and more.
A major point that we would love for our viewers to take away from this segment is that we are all currently going through what will be our new reality for the next unforseen amount of time. The best way to continue to contain the coronavirus is to keep ourselves safe from any contamination risk factors through, you guessed it, social distancing.
We are currently receiving many questions regarding exceptions to social distancing, like visiting friends after 14 days of isolation for instance, but these are generally not recommended. As our patients know, at Cardiogenix we strongly encourage socializing as a way to maintain a healthy lifestyle… But as Dr. Di Liello mentions, we are now living through what is called “pandemic life”, and for the time being, we must adjust.
The good news is that we can continue to connect with our friends and loved ones through technology! And remember, we are all going through this together. You are not alone.
We encourage you to send us more questions at info@cardiogenix.ca, but most importantly,

Thank you for the incredible amount of questions you have been sending for these video segments!
As Dr. Oommen puts it: “Our email inbox is on FIRE!”…. Wait till the end for Dr. Di Liello’s reaction to this, he didn’t expect that!
The Doctors are back to answer all of your coronavirus questions!
We have all heard the term “social distancing” at this point, but to what lengths should we go? They will address whether or not hanging out with our neighbors outdoors poses a risk, if going for walks is safe, and if we should avoid having our dogs socialize with others. They also touch on questions such as when to get tested for COVID-19 and if vinyl gloves can be worn again if washed.

Today the Doctors were particularly occupied with our patients, so tonight we would like to share Dr. Oommen & Terry Di Monte’s conversation about the coronavirus!
If you didn’t hear it this morning on CHOM 97.7 FM, Terry and Dr. O discuss various coronavirus related subjects such as grocery shopping during a pandemic, keeping your immunity up through healthy lifestyle habits, being cautious when on immunosuppressive medications, and more. Thank you Terry for having us on the show, it’s a pleasure as always!

Have a safe weekend indoors everyone, we will see you all on Monday for our next segment with both Dr. Di Liello and Dr. Oommen!
Hi everyone! The Doctors are back tonight with your daily dose of coronavirus knowledge. This evening, Dr. Oommen and Dr. Di Liello answer the controversial subject of the effects of blood pressure medication and anti-inflammatories (such as Advil) on COVD-19, as well as other questions such as how long we will be social distancing for, if isolating ourselves in our country home is more effective than at our house, whether or not the virus can get through the pores of our skin, and to what extent must we avoid touching our faces.
These are all great questions and lead back to the importance of social distancing and washing our hands. It is most important to keep a safety perimeter around our home as the virus spreads primarily through droplets in the air.
Thank you again for your submissions and for all of the positive feedback we have been receiving.
